Here you will find general news on our obedience training and trialing.
Which I might add we dont trial alot, usually trained all year around but only tend to enter trials during the summer when it's too hot to be in the bush tracking.
6/2/2010 - Last night they held both an obedience and agility show-n-go as they are fundraising for the National Agility event here in April.
Just like a normal obedience trial in a ring with a judge, but you can treat and talk to your dog in the ring, very good for novice dogs, or the smart ones (Taylor) who know that you have no food on you when in the ring normally.
I thought we have not done an obedience trial in ages, so take Miss Taylor along and see how she goes, treat at the end of exercises etc.
Have to say she worked like a dream, so less treats
and a "jackpot" at the end. We got some very nice comments from the judge and people who were watching outside the ring, always very pleasing. There is also a video of her heel work taken by my friend Sonya Bowditch took of us last night, thank you Sonya. Check it out in the video section.
My surprise of the night was Rebel, tossing up if to do it with him, but thought good idea as I could encourage him along if he was too distracted etc. He worked really well and I did have a chuckle to myself when he was nudging my hand when he thought it was time for a treat. He did a beautiful "stand for examination" and while the bum and trail were going, kept all 4 feet firmly on the ground. When we came to the recall he was checking out what was going on in the other ring and I was praying they were not going to be tossing their dumbbell because I know who would have done a very nice retrieve. No, he looked at me so I called "come" which he did. Very pleased with his very first attempt under trialing conditions with heaps of dogs and people everywhere.
